I began serving as Pastor of West Covina United Methodist Church in July 2006 after having served at Glendora United Methodist for 5 years first as Assistant Pastor, then as Associate Pastor. I moved to California in the year 2000, attended Claremont School of Theology, and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in May 2003. Prior to moving to California, I lived in Amarillo, Texas--where I served as a Pastoral Counselor at Samaritan Counseling Center and as a Children's Minister at Kingswood United Methodist Church. I received my call to ordained ministry 12 years ago while attending a retreat weekend in Amarillo called The Walk to Emmaus. Having come from a denomination that required women to be "silent in the churches," a whole new world opened up for me--when, for the first time in my life, I experienced women serving communion, praying aloud, and preaching. The journey has been a long one--both challenging and rewarding, and I am hoping to serve God in the role of pastor for many years to come! |
